The 52 Playparks Challenge

Get yourself into the habit of asking, ‘Does this support the life I am trying to create?’

With 52 weeks in the year, we get 52 chances to do something different each week. This got me thinking what could I do in 2022 that would enrich my own children’s lives this year?

My middle daughter absolutely loves playparks, there are so many dotted around the North East of England. It seems a shame that last year we used the same handful over and over again. My mind started to wonder…

What if we go to a new one each week?

Bonus that parks tend to be free and near some pretty awesome walks!

So the name of my blog was born out of the trap we often find ourselves in as parents going to the same greenspaces we know will be a hit for our children. After all we would all do anything for an easy life and a few minutes in nature, right? Until it starts to feel a little boring and uninspired. Plus we are often let down when we explore outside our tried and tested spots, leading to frustrated children and a sense that it wasn’t really worth the initial effort to begin with.

I’m definitely not claiming that this is an original idea and I’m fairly certain that there will be others out there joining along with their own version of the 52 Parks Challenge. Actually I would encourage anyone with young children to give this one a go this year. I’ll be using #52playparks on Instagram for my own adventures, so please join along it would be great to see it filled with park recommendations across the UK.

Plus as we join in with the 1000 hours outside challenge we get to kill two birds with one stone and hopefully work towards the larger goal of setting my children up with the resilience to enjoy the weather rain or shine, and lets be honest in the North East we get far more rain than shine.

The reason I’ve created a new hashtag is so that my reviews are easily found. There is already #52parksin2weeks which I will also be following for inspiration although this is predominantly American so a UK based one for us all to pull inspiration from would be amazing! Hence #52playparks will be placed in my bio as an easy find for all my reviews this year.

If you’re lucky enough to live in the beautiful North East of England I hope you enjoy my reviews and are inspired to try out some new places (and perhaps even teach me where the best spots in town are). If you live elsewhere in the UK it would be an amazing way to show off your own area and provide inspiration for new destinations within the UK to other families and hopefully show a hidden gem or two to explore during our staycations!

Keep an eye out for our very first review over the next week and connect with me. I love to support and be supported by like minded parents!

Hope you have had a wonderful first week of 2022.

What have you got planned for your 52 chances this year?
